Congratulations Navarro Early College High School class of 2023, including Valedictorian Zarqa Fatima and Salutatorian Judy Vo!
This morning’s ceremony was filled with excitement and joy in celebration of 324 graduating seniors, that included a musical performance by the Navarro Jazz Band.
Austin ISD Board of Trustee Dr. Kevin Foster initiated the ceremony by highlighting the many languages spoken across the district and asked the audience to greet one another in their home language. It was a beautiful sight to witness. Trustee Foster said, “Celebrate in the moment, look to the future, but never ever forget where you came from.”
Principal Covin praised the Navarro class of 2023 for their accomplishments and contributions to the Viking Nation. He noted that this class earned 164 industry based certifications; the most in Austin ISD. This year the electrical program led by Chris Thomas will have 16 students graduating with an Electrical Certification 1 from Austin Community College. All the students in the program will be OSHA certified and 9 of them will be OSHA 30 certified. Principal Covin stated “Thirteen of these seniors plan to start their electrical career and will start working with the electrical contractors in the Austin area, the others have plans on seeking a higher education by going to college or university.”

El Dr. Kevin Foster, miembro de la Junta Directiva de Austin ISD, inició la ceremonia destacando los muchos idiomas que se hablan en todo el distrito y pidió a la audiencia que se saludara en su idioma materno. Fue una vista hermosa de presenciar. El fideicomisario Foster dijo: “Celebra el momento, mira hacia el futuro, pero nunca olvides de dónde vienes”.
El director Covin elogió a la clase Navarro de 2023 por sus logros y contribuciones a la Nación Vikinga. Señaló que esta clase obtuvo 164 certificaciones basadas en la industria; la mayoría en Austin ISD. Este año, el programa eléctrico dirigido por Chris Thomas tendrá 16 estudiantes que se graduarán con una Certificación Eléctrica 1 de Austin Community College. Todos los estudiantes del programa estarán certificados por OSHA y 9 de ellos estarán certificados por OSHA 30.
