Mr. Hernandez currently serves as the lead registrar at Navarro, overseeing transcripts, grading, and scheduling. He is also responsible for managing class rank, calculating GPAs, and coordinating all aspects of the graduation process, while leading the Office of the Registrar.

A native Austinite, AJ began his career with Austin ISD in 2017 at just 16 years old as a Student Worker at Webb Middle School. Since then, he has held a variety of roles within the district, including PEIMS Clerk, Attendance Specialist, Data Processor, and Administrative Assistant in the Office of Talent Strategy.

Education truly runs in his family—AJ is a third-generation AISD employee. His mother, grandmother, and great-aunt dedicated a combined 96 years of service to the district. He is proud to continue that tradition.

AJ joined the Viking community in 2021 as the Attendance Specialist and quickly advanced to Data Processor before stepping into his current role in October 2023. A proud product of Austin ISD, he attended Pillow Elementary, Murchison Middle School, and Anderson High School—Go Trojans!

Outside of work, Mr. Hernandez enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He’s also a devoted fan of the Texas A&M Aggies and the San Francisco 49ers.
