The mission of the Navarro High School Band program is to cultivate in each student a lifelong love of music while continually raising our standards of excellence through common goals, unified efforts, mutual respect, and a tradition of success.
Marching Band
The Marching Band consists of Woodwinds, Brass, Percussion, and Color Guard. The Navarro Marching Band begins rehearsing in mid-July.
Membership in the marching band requires strenuous physical exercise and the ability to play the difficult literature encountered in the activity. All students enrolled in the band program are required to march. The marching band performs in the fall. All students involved with the marching band must have a current, up to date physical on file.
Jazz Band
Jazz Band is open to any student who plays Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Piano, Guitar, Bass or Drums with the following requirements:
- Students must be in grade 10, 11, or 12, and must be approved by a band director.
- 9th graders who wish to join must complete an audition.
- Students must be enrolled in Jazz Band AND another music class (band or orchestra)
Concert Band
All students who play a woodwind, brass, or percussion instrument participate in one of the concerts bands at the end of marching season (mid-November through May). Placement in the concert bands is based off of playing ability, eligibility, and attendance to rehearsals
Color Guard
Color Guard students are part of the Marching Band from July until mid-November. Beginning in November, color guard rehearses and competes as a winter guard.
