Transfer Credits & Placement

When students enroll, the Office of the Registrar reviews prior academic records to determine grade placement and eligibility for transfer credits. Credits are awarded based on alignment with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards and demonstration of course mastery. In some cases, additional assessments or credit validation may be required. Grade-level classification for high school students is determined by credits earned and the student’s original ninth-grade entry year.

Transfer Credits & Record Evaluation

Parents and students are responsible for ensuring that official academic records are provided at the time of enrollment. The Office of the Registrar evaluates incoming transcripts and educational records to determine which courses meet Texas graduation requirements.

Course credit is awarded based on how closely coursework from the previous school aligns with TEKS curriculum standards. If course alignment or documentation is unclear, additional steps may be required to verify mastery of course content.

Students from Non-Accredited or Out-of-State Schools

Students enrolling from non-accredited public, private, parochial, home school programs, or schools located outside the State of Texas may be placed temporarily based on available academic records. Final placement is determined after one or more of the following:

  • Review and validation of prior credits
  • Grade-level appropriate academic assessments
  • Credit-by-examination testing, if necessary

Parents or students must request credit validation during the enrollment process if prior coursework requires verification.
